I am so very tired, brain won't engage.

This weekend, my friend Elle and I went chav-shopping.

This is a very modern skill, which requires classy ladies to carefully scavenge cheap shops to provide for their demanding wardrobe needs within budget. I bought 14 items for £116. Average price per item.... um.... not much.

Feeling very chuffed with my hoard, all of which appears to be red. Unplanned, but at least they make a great capsule wardrobe for the upcoming road trip!!

I even bought some red patent shoes.... and I love them!! :-)

I feel like I am being taunted.

Black sky

Heavy air

Rumbles of thunder

Lightening strikes...

.... 30 degree heat still and NO RAIN!!

Please rain man, make it rain!!!

I want to buy some art for my newly fabulous living room.

Something colourful - either original or a print, don't mind... price is the main prohibitive (as I am not a gazillionaire).

Any recommendations?

Stop everything

Its an absolute traversty.

McFly sings Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now".

One of my favourite songs.

It really didn't need re-doing.

Don't get my wrong, nothing against McFly. Love "Its All About You".

But they have no passion. No energy. And there is something quite sick about the boys from McFly singing some of those lines...

Princely Dreams

Had a rather weird dream last night ... any help translating it in a way that doesn't make me weird is greatly appreciated.

So it was rather brief... but basically I was somewhere like a hotel reception, humming a Prince song. Possibly Raspberry Beret...

Anyway Yabu nudges me and says "oy oy, thats Prince over there". And it was.

But I didn't want to stop singing my song so I pretended I hadn't seen him and kept singing.

He noticed me, and walked towards me, watching me singing his song in a very unrealistically tuneful way. (I was bopping a fair bit too).

And thats it. Thats all I remember.

What on EARTH does it mean??

I am looking for a name.

The name is going to be given to a phenomeonmomenninein. Phenomenon. (???)
Anyway, it is.

To describe this pheononeminipenkm... its people who post comments on blogs, or actually its probably more likely to be automated, but anyway, these comments are the new spam.

I just got 40 comments to my blog last night. Yes this blog. The comments are all highly complementary:

"I love your blog, keep up the good work"
"This is the best blog - its on my favourites"

You tend to get multiples of each message, and I get hit every few weeks. At first I would get 3 messages, then 10 now 40!! Tellingly, they are all posted by anonamous (spelling there is probably as good as my spelling on phoeoneomeonoen).

Stop spamming my blog (and by default my inbox!)

Genuine comments only please (but lots of them please as I launch the competition...)

We have had spam, phishing, pharming.... whats this going to be called? Or does it already have a name? Answers in comments please! :-)

Today I had a fabulous day.

It was my birthday you see.

It had all the signs of potentially being crap, with the parentals being on holiday, and having to go to work, and all that....

But so many people did such nice things, not massive things, but really nice things, that I had a fabulous day. Probably the best birthday I can remember.

A bunch of flowers delivered to my desk at work.
Lunch bought by the boss.
A friend out in the carribbean remembering the day and logging into IM to say a long distant happy birthday
A long distance call from Canada.
Hilarious presents from a pal.
Funny birthday emails from a client and a new friend.
A birthday card through the post from a long lost friend.
Drinks in the sun at the end of the day.
Dinner and a gossip with some very close friends.
Did I mention the bunch of flowers...?
A big hug from my birthday twin

And more celebrations to look forward to on the weekend.

A good start to my new quarter century.

Thanks everyone :-)

So I appear to have a minor "blemish" shall we say on my chin today.

Not one to lightly accept such soiling of my usually delightful complexion I went to war.

I have TCPed it to get it to go down.

I have Tea Tree Oiled it to get it to come out.

And finally this evening I have toothpasted it (old wives beauty trick but it works!). However when old mother hubbard invented the toothpaste trick I don't imagine they had Colgate Total Plus Whitening... and it was probably a subtle white rather than glinting blue...

So with my chin festooned with toothpaste, so far this evening I have enountered:

a) the pizza delivery boy (well it IS nearly my birthday!)
b) my neighbour
c) two Jehovah's Witnesses...

Oh well, from tomorrow I can say "I was young and niave" :-)

One hour, 54 minutes...

...until a quarter century has passed since I was born.

A quarter century.

Long time huh?

Think of all the things I could have done....

But I haven't, and now I won't even come down to a tidy ktchen for the first morning of my second quarter century.

Nevermind, plenty of room for improvement then for the next bit!

I have something very interesting to post about.

But am too tired to post.

Cupboard - done
Radiator - done

Just one last gloss coat on the mantelpiece and victory is mine!!

(sorry, promise to blog about something more interesting soon - this is just rather all consuming!!)

Final lap!!

I am so near to finishing my living room that I can smell.... well gloss paint to be honest. Apart from the mantelpiece (which is currently a chocolate milkshake colour that I hate, so I have to paint over it, and I should have stopped painting it that colour much sooner yesterday but the paint smelled of chocolate...), yes apart from that all I have to do is one more coat on the radiator and the cupboard.

How to be old

Go to

I never thought that at 24 (ok, going on 25) I would feel old by being cool enough to check out the latest online social phenomenon.

OK, so I only really know about it because I am old enough to choose to read the Independent occasionally, and they had a feature on it. But I had already heard of it without knowing what it was because of the Arctic Monkeys (surely thats cool?).

So I trotted onto to see what its all about.

It appears that its all about teenagers in bands acting "grown up" and self-destuctively cool.

So now as I am neither 15 nor in a band, I think I am the oldest person to have a profile on myspace. If you can call it a profile as I couldn't find how to change the standard settings and couldn't upload a photo. Sadly I can't work out how to delete it either.

Is 15 the new 25? Am I getting old? Perhaps myspace is the new video recorder and soon people in their twenties will have to ask their nephews and neices how to use it because we will no longer be able to avoid it when they actually put useful things like cinema times on it. Grrr....

How did blogs become so old fashioned so quickly??

Germany photo

Here is the promised photo of me in Frankfurt. With my very good pal Elle, just after she (or I... can't remember) won our German flag competition!

Special request

If anyone you know, or anyone you meet in the next 7 days appears a little suicidal....

..... Please please please could you ask them not to jump in front of any trains on the Kings Cross to Cambridge line on Thursday 20th July? Its just someone did it today, and now I can't go home for at least 3 hours. And Thursday is my birthday and I don't want to spend it making friends with the locals at Kings Cross as evening draws in (if you know what I mean!)

Given the choice of my desk at work or the bottom of a wine bottle I will now end today hiccupping. Yeah thanks suicidal person.

Me? Selfish? Never.
Oh and with my CSR hat on here is the samaritans website. Give it to your suicidal friend and don't complain that I am heartless!

Finally... I understand the point of the World Cup

I went to Frankfurt this weekend.

And there was a big football game on.

The Germans are now my favourite nation. They are friendly, know how to party, and genuinely had no issues with the fact that we were English!

We got all German flagged up (photo to follow!), and sang away with our Germany songs. My particular favourite was "We're Germans, hope you like Germans too!" sung to the tune of Bob Marley's Jammin'. By 4.30 in the morning, the Germans were happily singing England anthems while we sang their songs!

Loved it. Loved it.

Now I REALLY need to sleep!!

I'm a survivor!!!!

Yes, I made it.

I am alive. And sorry it took me so long to post this great news - I know some of you were up all night worrying.

Power walked the whole way, (occasionally jogging past slow fat people) and then uber sprinted the last 100 yards to make it over the finish line as the clock hit the hour. HOWEVER - I passed the start line with the clock at 8 mins so actually I did it in 52 mins. Rather proud :-)

Yes yes ... photo to follow!

Added much much later... promised photo!!!

JP nutters in the sun

Tonight I shall be found walking (at speed) around Battersea park. In my gardening shorts, with my colleagues.

Why? you ask..

God only knows. I never do these 5.6km run things, and never planned to, but I agreed to do it if I could walk because everyone else seemed to be doing it. Only now its really hot, and everyone else doesn't seem to be doing it. Odd.

Anyway, the gardening shorts are because, as mentioned just now, I never do these things, therefore have no running shorts.

Generally I think its going to be sweaty and messy and yukky.

Wish me luck! I may post again ... if I survive!

Sorry folks no exciting weekend news from me. I am shattered. Its 6pm and I really could sleep through til morning if I went to bedfordshire now.

Talking of which, I have just got back from Bedfordshire. Leighton Buzzard via Luton. Its still a dump.

So why am I so tired? Well the amount of exhaustion I feel directly correlates to the stunning-ness of my living room which is creeping excitingly nearer to completion (thanks Amy for the amazing help this weekend!).

Yay!!! Once its done I get my lounge, and my weekends, back. Fab! And hopefully we will have more 33 degree days once its done and I can get outside and enjoy/melt in them!
