Question....

If we find it harder work on our muscles to walk up and down hill than on flat, do ants find it harder to walk up walls than over floors?

I would think so yes. But they at least have more legs to help pull them up the wall. I reckon spiders are the freaky ones when they hang from the roof - it must be hard to keep that grip for a long time. WHich makes me concerned that they will fall on my head! Ah you have many fun things to look forward to during Aussie summer...

Yes, 'cuz they've got to shift the weight of the ant upwards (plus the 8 other ants it's carrying to make the point.)

This is Chris -- Val and David's nephew. I'm here b/c they said this was the best way to reach you with a question... namely, do you know any half decent recruitment agencies in Australia? I'm trying to get out of the UK for 6 mo before my PhD starts, but have no money... so am looking for a job. I'm a half decent programmer with a couple good degrees, but I have no idea who (if anyone!) needs such people in Australia.

You can reach me at cdt25 squiggle cantab.net ... Thanks very much if you have any ideas!
