Early and still panicked

I had to get up at 5.20 this morning to get to Amazingstoke to meet my new client.

So why is Elle panicking me that I might not make it across London in time for my connection at Waterloo?? Argh!!

Its too early to panic. My adrenalin making machines don't fire up till gone 7am.

Mobile World Congress in Facebook status

Reading back over the last week's Facebook status' I think it nicely summarises the week.... Here goes:

7:07pm Emily is single handedly ending US / UK diplomatic relations.

February 7

7:09am Emily drank far too much wine, but believes it was medicinal.

8:56pm Emily just finished a rather good press release, even if she does say so herself

February 8

6:24am Emily has a special ipod playlist prepared for the team today.

2:44pm Emily is scrapping the playlist because its not perfect so she isnt using it. Pah.

10:07am Emily is pampering and packing today.

1:58pm Emily has had a nose bleed for a week, is that a problem?

8:32am Emily is off to Barcelona and summoning her last reserve of energy.

February 11

8:12am Emily maybe partied too hard in the first night....

6:30pm Emily always tries to set a good example. Although sometimes its a good example of what not to do.

Possibly the most amusing cup of tea in the world...

As you get older you get more comfortable with yourself. You know who you are and your own understanding of self makes it easier to interact with other people.

The downside is that when you do something that's not "you" its harder to deal with. Its not so easy as it used to be to adapt your personality around these out of character acts.

Guess you just have to deal with it, use it to remind you of who you are, reclarify your boundaries, and move on.

Madness World Congress

My team have been rather busy for the last two months preparing for the annual Mobile World Congress (formerly 3GSM). It reached a climax of stress this week as we all fly out today. I knew it had all got too much for one of my team when at 8pm we noticed her shirt had been inside out all day....

Ah well, its all over on Thursday.

Deceitful governance

Behind my parents house is a thin strip of land, maybe 50 yards wide. The council own it and rent it to a couple of the houses down the road. They have bits planted up as orchard, or my favourite ones are wildlife reserves.

In them grow the most enormous snow drops you have ever seen. They are home to countless birds, squirrels, bugs and other juicy bits of English wildlife.

The council is bound by an old promise not to build on this small strip of nature. Handily my dad has a photocopy of this document because the original has gone missing.

The council has made numerous attempts to build on the land over the years and are trying again now. They put a note in the local paper and described it as neglected land. Unforgiveably they used a photo of somewhere else entirely.

All I can say is this...

North Herts District Council get your hands off our land. It belongs to the town, Letchworth Garden City, and under the strange laws of the cooperation, the inhabitants own the town. So its ours.

You can lie and keep trying but that promise still exists and we will make you stand by it.

can we sue the architects?

Did someone forget to mention the rush hour to the designers of the new kings cross underground?

For the last 6 months this is the view that has greeted everyone who has come off a mainline train and attempted to get on the tube.

You can't use the other entrances either occasionally they open the gate a smidgen and let 4 people down.

It gets tiring.

Outrageous theft

From my pal's Facebook page; their top quotes....

"From now on, ending a sentence with a preposition is something up with which I shall not put."
-- Winston Churchill

"Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Some damn fool forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water."
-- W C Fields

"We live in a land of weather forecasts, and breakfasts that set in."
-- Uncle Monty

"Never try to teach a pig to dance. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."
-- Anon

"You're a fugitive now, eh lad? You'll be hunted down like, well, a dog."
-- Wallace, to Gromit

Vladimir: Well, that passed the time.
Estragorn: It would have passed anyway.

"Be careful of reading health books. You might die of a misprint."
-- Mark Twain

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime."
-- Mark Twain

"We first met through a shared view - she loved me and I did too."
-- Mike Skinner
